The Olney City Council has joined a countywide effort to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States, or semiquincentennial, approving a proclamation supporting a July 4 celebration in Graham. The proposal was brought to the Council by the Graham- based community group Stars and Stripes in Young County.
A new federal facility under construction in South Texas is drawing attention from cattle producers across the state, including in Young County, as officials work to stop the spread of the New World screwworm.
The fellowship hall at First Baptist Church of Olney filled with laughter, music, and the delectable smell of fried catfish on Saturday afternoon as the community turned out for the annual Fish Fry & Opry to raise funds to send local youth to summer camp in New Mexico.
