Introducing B.U.C.K.

Introducing B.U.C.K.

One of my primary goals in life is to bring as many people to Jesus as I can. This is by no means an easy task, but I am up for the challenge. One of the main hindrances is the ways of the world. Many of today’s kids are getting an education in worldly things five days a week and instruction in faith only once a week.

Without a firm foundation in the Word, kids could fall away from Our Lord into the ways of the world. Whether the child goes to college, trade school, or straight into the workforce, the danger is very real. I have had a few teenagers and parents of teenagers ask me where I went to college. While my alma mater was recommendable, I cannot necessarily assure anyone that it still is. It is like someone wanting to work where you were once employed and asking if the co-workers and management are pleasant. The question is moot, as too many things could have changed in the interim. As for my alma mater, although it was a Christian school, I do not know if the values remain in place. Even when I was there, teachers did not always believe the Bible and raised doubts about it. Granted, some professors stood by the Word, but others did not.

Now, I do not like being gloom and doom about these sorts of things. I do not like pointing out a problem without giving the good people of this town a solution. For this reason, I created the B.U.C.K. or Basic Understanding of Christian Knowledge curriculum. It is a one-hour, or less, course after school that I personally designed to answer many of the questions that I had when going through college.

The program will be held at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church next to Olney Hamilton Hospital. As of this writing, classes have not officially begun.
