Olney’s hometown grocery store, Stewart’s, is marking a golden milestone this Saturday, Nov. 1, with a full day of celebration, giveaways, and oneday- only specials for customers who have kept the store thriving for half a century.
Olney High School has once again earned statewide recognition, ranking No. 200 in Texas and claiming the title of top high school in Region 9 in the 2025–2026 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools list. The annual rankings evaluated nearly 24,000 schools across the country, with about 18,000 ranked.
Young County 4-H members marked National 4-H Week on Oct. 14 by visiting the Young County Commissioners Court to share highlights of their busy fall calendar and to introduce this year’s theme, “Beyond Ready.”

The Olney City Council voted Oct. 13 to appoint Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Joey Stewart as the city’s new municipal judge, filling the position left vacant by last month’s retirement of Judge Stan Mahler after 18 years of service.
