This week’s recipe comes to us from another member of the Stewart’s Food Store team – Lora Weems – who brought this quick and easy way to turn a boxed cake mix into dozens of delicious cookies. Lora’s recipe for Box Cake Cookies is a prizewinner and comes just in time for bakers who want to contribute to the Olney Senior Cub Center’s Texoma Gives bake sale on Sept. 7.
Six Olney nonprofits are participating this year in the Sept. 7 Texoma Gives online fundraiser this year, hoping to fund new projects and programs in 2024. They are: Keep Olney Beautiful, Olney Volunteer Fire Department, House of Mercy Enterprises, Young County Olney Senior Center, Olney Education Foundation, and The Refuge Olney Christian Community Center. Last week, the Enterprise profiled the Senior Cub Center and House of Mercy Enterprises last week. This week we take a look at the wish lists for the City’s remaining nonprofits.
When I lived in Fort Worth, my house was less than 10 minutes’ drive from Bass Hall. Victor Borge was coming to town, and I thought about grabbing a cheap seat. But I was tired, it was a work night, no one wanted to go with me, and I figured I’d catch him next time. But there was no next time: the pianist and comedian passed away shortly afterward.
The 29th H.O. Smithwick Annual Family Reunion was held July 2830, in Lampasas at Best Western Plus - Lampasas Inn and Suites. Lampasas is where the Smithwick family first settled in Texas in the 1880’s.
