“I have been an addict for 30 years. There were periods of my life that I was sober but not for long. I have been married for 28 years with three kids, five grandkids and more on the way. My husband and I both were addicts and both have been abusive toward one another because of this. I was tired of both of us getting up every morning feeling hopeless. I went to Red River in June and got out. My husband wasn’t ready, and I used that as an excuse and fell off the wagon with alcohol. I have always been raised knowing about God, but I really didn’t take the time to get to know him personally. So, I decided that I couldn’t successfully do this without him. My youngest daughter brought me here to the House of Mercy. I had no shoes or clothes that fit. I was welcomed here with love just as soon as I walked through the door and I get up every morning happy and singing. God has always known me, it’s time that I get to know him.”
