Eighteen members of the Pride of Olney High School Band competed in the UIL Region 7 North Zone Solo and Ensemble competition held at Wichita Falls High School Saturday, Feb. 17. All achieved excellent ratings and a few advanced to the state Solo and Ensemble competition, which is to be held next May at Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville.
On Tuesday, February 13, the Olney Lady Cubs varsity softball team lost their first home game of the season to Millsap High School with a score of 0-17.
The Newcastle Ladycats basketball squad has been unstoppable this season, going undefeated in district including crushing the Bellevue Lady Eagles to claim the Bi-District Championship. The Ladycats rolled right through teams during the regular season with a record of 29 wins and 1 loss, as close to a perfect season as anyone can get. The Ladycats continue to fight toward the state championships. Congratulations, Ladycats!!
The 2024 Olney Lady Cubs softball season is finally here. The softball girls began practicing Jan. 16 and had their first game of the season on Feb. 13, against Millsap High School. Sadly, the varsity lost their game to Millsap 17-0, while the JV team was also beaten 1310.
The Olney Cubs Varsity basketball team had a game against played an away game against Seymour on in Seymour Friday, Feb. 9. The ending score was 63-49, and Olney fell short. The Olney Cubs fought all the way through the game. Despite fighting hard, the Cubs fell short, losing 63-49 “They led through part of the first half and fell behind in the third quarter,” Coach Erick Symank stated.
