OISD Board reviews security, ballpark plans

The Olney school board reviewed its security and emergency operations plans and the progress of the ballpark construction and reported board members’ training hours at an April 24 meeting. The board also approved the sale of 10 foreclosed City lots to housing developer Crombie Properties of Olney Inc for $52,000, an amount expected to cover delinquent taxes owed to the Olney Independent School District’s taxing district. District enrollment and attendance as of March 31 was 723 with an average daily attendance of 655.75, OISD Superintendent Dr. Greg Roach said. Dr. Roach reviewed the intrusion detection audit, emer-gency operations plan, weeHy door security audit. He asked the board to approve a $35,387 quote from Tex-Oma Builders Supply for door hardware to finish upgrading all exterior district doors to the access control system as part of the school district’s security plan. Dr. Roach updated the board on the ongoing ballpark construction, including the installation of a pump for field irrigation and the bidding on the softball press box. He also reviewed information for a ballpark water tank.
