“But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the LORD, and be sure your sin will find you out.” Numbers 32:23 NASBS

Memories & Moments

1. As you think about your high school years, what is a favorite memory? “I can’t choose one moment from my high school years, but a few of my favorite memories include: cheering at district basketball games, exploring a library at 11pm while competing in State Debate in Austin, every single moment spent backstage (and onstage!) of One Act Play performances, playing laser tag in Fort Worth the night before Regional Academics, playing Juliet in GRT’s “Romeo and Juliet”, choreographing dances for Mini Cheer Camp, lengthy in-depth conversations about absolute silliness with my teachers, singing at the top of my lungs on school road trips, directing a fundraiser show, and so, so much more!”

DEVOTIONAL

Moses was a man whom God separated from his birth to be the leader of His nation. He was chosen from the foundations of the world to accomplish what is considered to be one of the greatest miracles found in Old Testament history, the deliverance of His people from Egyptian slavery. Through him, The Lord redeemed His chosen nation from the tyranny of an evil Pharaoh who was ruling in Egypt. This tyrant of a man knew not Joseph, nor how the Lord saved Egypt from a famine that would have destroyed the entire nation. This evil man began to build his kingdom upon the backs of God’s chosen people. He was a brutal taskmaster, commanding those who were under him to beat the people of God into submission, bringing them under his dominion. This Pharaoh sought to dehumanize God’s people, to be no more than mere animals trapped in a cage. Oh the cruelty of sin and what it is capable of doing when a man removes the infinite God Who has made Himself known to all of creation by the works of His hands. The blood of murdered children crying from the ground, the infliction of pain as the lash tore through the skin of the weak, wives being torn from their households to be abused, as the screams echoed through the streets of Egypt, while the innocent were being ravaged by evil men.

WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL “Workout”

When was the last time you worked out? I haven’t worked out for like two months and my 13-year-old son challenged me to a basketball game and boy did I regret it the next day! It is important to work out physically but it is also more important to work out spiritually. When we are spending time with the Lord reading our bibles, doing devotions and going to church, we are working out and getting stronger and when we are stronger spiritually we are able to accomplish some amazing things. Let’s look at Peter for example. When he was walking with the Lord and he was pretty ripped spiritually. In Matthew 14:28-29 Peter sees the Lord walking on water and he says to Jesus “Lord, if it is you tell me to come to you on the water. Come, Jesus said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.” Peter had some amazing faith to want to take a step onto the unknown. You know there were 12 guys in that boat with Peter and he was the only one that wanted to get out! When was the last time you took a step of faith? When was the last time you got out of your comfort zone? When was the last time you did something when everyone else was watching from the sidelines?
