Lunar Landscape Experience

Lunar Landscape Experience

On Friday, June 26, at the Legacy Texas Community Center, Back to Space (BTS) CEO Michael Gorton held two meetings over the upcoming development of Lunar Landscape Experience in Jacksboro, Texas. According to the event flyer, BTS is making a Guinness World Record 25,447 square foot map of the moon and museum. Anticipating tourists from all over, they will be hosting educational events, such as rocket launches and summer camps. Using AR technology, visitors will explore the Apollo landing sights and take selfies with astronauts who walked there and more. This out of this world experience is scheduled to open in the spring of 2021.

As stated on their website, Back To Space is a transmedia organization using network shows to digital media to engage with the next generation. Inspiring the youth to partake in STEM learning through three key platforms of illuminating aerospace legacy, inspiring the next generation through pop culture, and creating excitement in STEM and emotion drives a desire for STEM opportunities.

I am excited to be conducting research through Midwestern State Universities Enhancing Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (EURECA) program with my mentor Dean Jeff Stambaugh of Dillard College of Business, on the Lunar Landscape Experience. Working with Mr. Gorton, founding CEO of Teladoc, CEO of Back To Space, 6X Author, Speaker, and 13X Serial Entrepreneur and Executive Director Leslie Chalmers of the Jacksboro Economic Development Corporation. The study will provide information to bridge the Lunar Landscape Experience park planners, City of Jacksboro, and community communications together. It will assess the impacts of tourism, the potential changes of personal quality of life on the community, helps understand the current needs and improvements of Jacksboro, and gauge the well-being of the local businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study will begin in September and be completed in November, displayed in the EURECA Fall 2020 Virtual Forum.
