Growing up as a good Southern Baptist girl, I learned plenty about the heroes of Christian missionary work around the world. As a teenager I once dressed like missionary Lottie Moon and retold the story we’d all heard so many times before–Lottie Moon, starving to death as she gave away all she had to the people that she was called to minister to. Chad and I even considered naming our third child Lottie. No kidding.

Every time I turn on the television or surf the internet, I see civil unrest sprouting up not only throughout the U.S., but also throughout the world. In my attempt to maintain a balanced point of view, I watch multiple news programs and I listen to a variety of political pundits present arguments for and against liberals and conservatives, the right and the left, the poor and the rich, male and female, white and black; It’s a never-ending masquerade of allegiance to a country that is divided.
