The Un-Cute Truth of a Lasting Faith

The Un-Cute Truth of a Lasting Faith

Chad and I went to the nursing home to sing to a couple of residents who are members of our church. We took Emerald with us. The sweet people who live there always seem to enjoy seeing her little pigtails come bouncing down the hall. Chad took his guitar, and we sang some old hymns and asked how they were doing and if they needed anything. Both of the ladies we were visiting told us that they couldn’t think of a thing that they need. Every time I go there I walk out with a fresh perspective.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself and your sanity is to escape into solitude – even if only for a short while. I have been struggling lately with finding any alone time. I am either doing something for other people, have plans with the family or husband, or there just is not enough time left in the day to focus on myself. Some might find it odd, but I need a day – or two – every now and again to allow my self to decompress and reconnect with myself.

It’s that time of year again which I always find a little bitter sweet. The end of another Olney ISD school year. May is the busiest time of year for me. Very hectic. Lots of banquets and ceremonies. I enjoy taking photos for as many end-of-year events as I can. I just really love showing off these Cubs because they work so hard and deserve all the recognition they can get.

Publisher’s Points to Ponder: Is it right to censor or ban CRT?

I recently read an article written about critical race theory (CRT) that stated that CRT is cancer, not a cure. CRT is an academic discipline that comprises civil-rights scholars and activists who examine how the law influences systemic racism in the U.S. Most people would agree that one of the reasons why professors, instructors, researchers, and scholars influence social change is that knowledge is power. If this is true, why are Texas legislators seeking to eliminate the discussion of CRT in public schools?
