On July 24, the Olney Recreation Association (ORA) hosted the first golf tournament named “The McClatchy.” The tournament is named after longtime ORA member Jeff McClatchy, who was instrumental in furthering and improving every aspect of the ORA.
The Olney Cub Center is a busy, fun place where lots of friends come to spend the day, eat a home cooked lunch, and play games. The Center provided 1674 meals in-person or by home-delivery in June. These meals are cooked fresh each day and are provided at a cost of $4 for folks over 65, and $6 for those under 65.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been challenging for everyone. As the world adjusted to lockdowns, school closures and remote working, parents have been faced with especially unique challenges, and many of those challenges were still present a year after lockdowns began.
How gracious it is when the light of God’s heavenly words shines upon the sinner’s heart saying, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.” It was the Father’s good pleasure for those Whom He loved to send His only begotten Son into this restless world to save sinners, of which I am the foremost. Apart from being awakened by the Holy Spirit, the weary soul seeks to find rest in this sensuous world to no avail. So many turn to religion. They drape a cross around their neck and run into the waters of baptism. They clean the outside of their life up, but on the inside, they are full of dead man’s bones. They run this course for a time, just to find at the end of the race they are twice the sons of hell as they once were. Oh, how weary this road is. It leads to laws that cannot be kept and tasks that cannot be performed.
