City Council Update

City council held its first meeting of the month on May 11, 2020. The meetings are still being held for the council with only 10 people in attendance for the time being due to COVID-19. The meeting began with the invocation, followed by the citizens comment period.

Jones loses employment during pandemic

Olney Hamilton Hospital terminates Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Director and Emergency Response Coordinator Chuck Jones. Jones has been working at the Hospital since July 2019, and he feels his termination was unjust. He said that he spent much of his time trying to improve the Emergency Services’ reputation and improve the quality of each emergency response.

The Cat is Out of the “Bag” (Crate)

The cat is out of the bag, or should we say the crate. The monumental bronze sculpture named the “Lion of Judah” was installed in the heart of Jerusalem on May 5. The 11-foot-long and 1123 pound statue is located in Bloomfield Park between the Old City and New Jerusalem right behind the King David Hotel, in sight of Mount Zion and the Jaffa Gate, a project that has been ongoing for the past 14 years.
