Windy weather stopping mosquito truck

Gusty winds over the past few weeks have prevented the City from spraying for mosquitoes, Olney Police Chief Dan Birbeck told the City Council June 13. State law prohibits the application of the pesticide when sustained winds are above 10 mph, Chief Birbeck said. “The truck is ready to roll. Next week, we will start a regimen of spraying. It has been ridiculous for the last month and a half – like standing under a hair dryer, so we couldn’t have sprayed if we wanted to,” he said. “State law won’t let us spray until the wind dies down.”
