The Olney Hamilton Hospital Board of Trustees wants residents to know they won’t face a tax hike to fund the $33 million cost of the proposed new hospital and has begun a public relations campaign to get the word out ahead of a Nov. 4 bond election.
The Olney Fire Department extended its thanks to the community and fellow volunteer firefighters for help with the Campbell fire, while reminding supporters about the upcoming Texoma Gives fundraising event on Sept. 7.
The Refuge/Olney Christian Community Center runs programs that nourish children, literally and spiritually, and strives to unite the community around Christian values of love and inclusivity. The Refuge is asking for Olney’s support during the Texoma Gives online fundraiser on Sept. 7. The 16-hour online giving event goes from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and can be accessed at www.texomagives.org.
Young County’s volunteer fire departments were back fighting smaller fires in the blazing hot week after the massive Campbell fire consumed more than 8,000 acres near Olney as local officials examined ways to better support and fund their fire fighting work.
