The Olney High School Debate has been very successful competing in Lincoln-Douglas, CX, Exempt, and Congress debates styles.

This year they have a couple of new people doing CX (Cross Examination), in which a two-person team competes against another two-person team.

They opposing teams ask each other questions trying to get clarity with one another’s case. Each round is about 45 minutes to over an hour long.

“This was the first ever tournament for Maddox, Foster, and Sawyer, and the first tournament for Allie and Joselyn as a team,” stated Lani Caffey, the debate coach.

The CX team competed Saturday, Sept. 23. There are two teams competing this year in the CX competition. One of the teams consisted of Allie Barrington and Joselyn Marquez, who placed first in their first meet. The other team is Maddox Johnson and Foster Sullivan, who placed third.

“I think the season is going great so far and I’m extremely excited for our upcoming tournaments,” Caffey said.
