Banned Book Awareness is now on display at the Olney Community Library thanks to Laney Kimbro and Lori Cox. Kimbro’s project is a part of her Lone Star Leadership Academy Alumni Council community service project requirement.
Olney residents will not head to the polls for the May 3, 2025, municipal election, as the city council officially canceled the election due to unopposed candidates. Mayor Pro-Tem Chuck Stennett and council members Thea Sullivan and Steven Nurre were the only individuals to file for their respective seats. The races for Olney Independent School District Board of Trustees and the Olney Hamilton Hospital were likewise canceled for lack of opposing candidates.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, let us never allow ourselves to disbelieve for even a moment that the most profound blessing we possess is the salvation that God has given to us through the death of His son, Jesus Christ.
On Palm Sunday when Emerald was two, our kids stood on the platform in the sanctuary, waving palm branches from the florist shop. They ran up on the aisle and smiled and swished the branches while the congregation smiled back and sang, “Prepare ye the way of the Lord….”
