The Olney High School Lady Cubs hosted the City View Lady Mustangs for a scrimmage, one of the last chances to hone their skills before the season begins.
The Olney High School [OHS] Cubs recently hosted the Haskell Indians in the last scrimmage of the season. The Cubs travel to Cisco High School to battle the Reagan County Owls in the season opener.
An attempted traffic stop in the early morning hours of Aug. 22 turned into an unusual pursuit when an Olney man fled police on a motorized scooter.
Firefighters from the Olney Volunteer Fire Department responded to a blaze Thursday morning, Aug. 21, at a home on 1216 Highland Street. The fire, believed to be electrical in nature, started in the garage and was quickly brought under control. No injuries were reported, according to Olney Police Chief Autumn Thames. “Thanks to the quick response of Olney Volunteer firefighters, the fire did not spread to the rest of the home,” she said.
