Blaize DeVries: Is music and art education still essential in schools or should it be cut? Why?

Sophie Roach, junior: “Music and art education remains essential in schools because it doesn’t only allow us to learn about these subjects, it helps us understand cultures and historical occurrences. By being able to study the arts, we find new ways of expression and thought constantly.”

Sawyer Edgington, senior: “Music and art education is still essential in schools because they are activities that students can enjoy and take a break from core classes. If athletics is the only available option, many students who aren’t a part of that or do not want to be will not have opportunities to explore the extracurriculars and electives they excel in.”

Abram Dinwiddie, freshman: “I think that art and music education are both still essential for schools and should not be cut, because music and art provide a way for students to engage in hobbies they may like and build sustainable skills throughout their school years.”

Josh Hart, junior: “I think art should be cut but music should stay because it is essential.”

James Garcia, junior: “I believe art and music allows students to express themselves freely. It allows for a students imagination to shine.”
