Gatlin family seeks marker at Assembly of God church
Family members of Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers Band are working to get a historic marker for the Olney church on Main Street where the Gatlins sang as children. Danny Willingham and his grandmother, Patricia Annette Hobbs, of Olney have been in touch with Larry Gatlin’s manager and state historical commission officials to inquire about memorializing the childhood concerts that Larry, Rudy, Steve, and LaDonna Gatlin sang in the church in the 1950s.
Open Door Christian School hosts fundraiser
Open Door Christian Academy [ODCA] recently held a get-together at the Oak Street Baptist Church in Graham. The purpose of the get-together, according to ODCA Principal Brandi Menard, is to get everyone pumped up for the start of the donation event and to educate on best practices for driving donations.
Hay prices reach 50-year high
The state agriculture extension warned that hay supplies would remain tight and the price of feeding herds through the winter would likely rise as farmers reckon with effects from the 2022 drought and spiking prices for fertilizer, grain and other supplemental feed.
