Christmas in Germany

If any of you didn’t already know, I lived in Germany for 12 years. Oh, the stories I could tell you about growing up in this beautiful country. One of my more favorite memories of living there was going to the city of Trier for the “Weihnachtsmarkt” (Christmas Market). Trier is one of the oldest cities in Germany and lays close to Luxembourg and France, so a lot of French is spoken in this area. The city itself is simply gorgeous, but at Christmas time, Trier is radiantly picturesque.

Enjoying Christmas

“It was the night before Christmas in all was quiet, not a creature could be heard not even a mouse.” I would quote the poems author, but I am sure I thoroughly messed it up. My wife makes fun of me often because I always just make up my own words when singing along to songs and while trying to remember words to other things.

The Exhausting Honor of Motherhood

Several years ago, Chad and I had been away for almost a week. The kids seemed thrilled to see us walk through the door, gone-away Mama and Daddy home again with presents and kisses and hugs. We looked through my bags until each little treat for each little child was accounted for, and then we told stories of all of things we had missed, from ballgames to funny things Emerald had said to the art projects their granny had directed during our absence.
