Procrastination and Good Intentions

During our snow/ice/white-out this January, 2026, I had a difficult time having ambition to accomplish anything around the house. I was closed-up in the house—I could not get out, and no one could get to my house! I did a lot of reading, ate my own prepared food from the freezer, and watched way too much TV News! And, I was so grateful to have power and phone service during that time—contact with the outside world!

The fact is…I have plenty of projects around the house just waiting to be attended to. There are some drawers and closets that sure could use a good clean out. I would think about it, but would just continue reading my book! One project that has stared me in the face for months is my stack of clippings from my 5 years worth of my newspaper articles. In those articles, I have covered a multitude of subjects from cooking projects, country living, local history, and included some family stories. Since I love photography, I have been able to incorporate some of my photos that might enhance my stories… an added enjoyment to writing. I have saved multiple copies of all those articles because I am sure my family will ‘want’ them! In life’s reality, I realize that all those clipped articles will most likely end up in “dump heaven” someday! Right now…the stack of articles are still staring at me. I probably will not clean out a drawer. I don’t plan to do any art. I don’t knit or sew these days. Of course, there is that stack of 1099’s to organize! But, I guess I will go see what is for lunch and at some point, I will probably do the dishes— procrastination!
