The Olney Chamber of Commerce [OCC] recently hosted their quarterly luncheon at the First Methodist Church of Olney, courtesy of Pastor Harrell Braddock. Attendees enjoyed pizza and salad from Papa Ed’s Pizza, sponsored by the meeting’s title sponsor, Johnny Moore Insurance in Olney.
Olney and county law enforcement arrested 21 people in three separate instances of suspected human smuggling on State Highway 114 in a 24hour period, law enforcement officials said.
State Sen. Drew Springer has filed 11 bills for the 88th Texas legislative session beginning on Jan. 10. Sen. Springer, R-Olney, says he will file additional legislation before the March 10 filing deadline. The Enterprise talked with Sen. Springer about how some of his proposed legislation would affect Olney.
The City of Olney invites the public to a retirement party for longtime police dispatcher Deena Clark on Dec. 9 from 2-4 p.m. at City Hall, 201 E. Main St, City Administrator Arpegea Pagsuberon said. Mrs. Clark will officially retire on Dec. 15 after spending 32 years dispatching calls for the Olney Police Department. “She has been integral to our safety team,” Mrs. Pagsuberon said. “The public is welcome. We will have snacks and drinks and have everybody come by and thank her for her 32 years of service. She will be greatly missed.” Mrs. Clark will pass the dispatcher’s baton to Brandi Blodgett, who formerly worked for the Young County Sheriff ’s Office.
