Show Your Support for Olney’s Future Skatepark Fundraiser, Sat. July 31

Olney Skatepark Advocacy Group (OSAG is forging ahead with great confidence in raising $350,000 to complete the skatepark project at Griffin Park in Olney. The next fundraiser is a cornhole tournament this Saturday, July 31, at the American Legion Post 414, located at 103 Hwy 251 S. in Olney. The event starts at 4:30 p.m. The event was organized by Michelle Welsh, the vice commander at the Legion and an OSAG committee member. Welsh said, “We are expecting to have a great turnout.” OSAG comprises a group of parents, grandparents, citizens and youth in Olney “passionate about providing a safe location to skateboard.” The committee members are Dustin and Shanda Hope and their son, Collin; Chris Garcia and his son, James; Todd and Ashley Phillips and their son, Logan; Nick Tellez, Michelle Welsh and son, Richard Elizondo; and Laci Tate.

COVID-19 Variant Confirmed in Wichita Falls

The Wichita Falls –Wichita County Public Health District has received confirmation fromthe Texas Department of State Health Services(DSHS)that two test samples have returned positive for the COVID-19 Delta variant. The Health District submitted eight samples to DSHS and have received six results thus far. Of the returned samples, three samples are the Alpha variant, two samples are the Delta variant and one was not suitable for testing. Two more tests are pending.

The Olney Heritage Museum (OHM) recently joined the Regional Museum Network (RMN), based out of Wichita Falls, Texas. So, it was only fitting the Olney Enterprise do a series of stories and tour the museums in the alliance, since the Enterprise offices are located upstairs in the Olney Heritage Museum’s building.
