The City turned off the water in Olney July 25 due to another breach in the water lines. This recent incident occurred just a couple of weeks after the first special-called financial committee meeting of the City council held July 12 at 5 p.m. The sole purpose of the meeting was to discuss the plan to move forward with a reconstructed water treatment plant.

Olney Skatepark Advocacy Group (OSAG is forging ahead with great confidence in raising $350,000 to complete the skatepark project at Griffin Park in Olney. The next fundraiser is a cornhole tournament this Saturday, July 31, at the American Legion Post 414, located at 103 Hwy 251 S. in Olney. The event starts at 4:30 p.m. The event was organized by Michelle Welsh, the vice commander at the Legion and an OSAG committee member. Welsh said, “We are expecting to have a great turnout.” OSAG comprises a group of parents, grandparents, citizens and youth in Olney “passionate about providing a safe location to skateboard.” The committee members are Dustin and Shanda Hope and their son, Collin; Chris Garcia and his son, James; Todd and Ashley Phillips and their son, Logan; Nick Tellez, Michelle Welsh and son, Richard Elizondo; and Laci Tate.
