St Luke Lutheran Holds Free Organ Concert, Chili Cookoff on March 22 to Mark Easter

Residents are invited to an afternoon of music and fellowship this Sunday as St. Luke Lutheran Church presents the second performance in its organ concert series.

The free concert will take place Sunday, March 22, at 3 p.m. at the church, located at 1302 W. Oak Street in Olney.

The performance will feature acclaimed organist Dr. Katherine Meloan, accompanied by the St. Luke choir, in a program celebrating the Lenten and Easter seasons. During the concert, Dr. Meloan will perform several traditional sacred compositions while also sharing brief histories of the pieces and explaining how the music of different eras helped shape many of the hymns still sung in churches today.

Pastor Sean Reeves says the event is also an opportunity to showcase the congregation’s historic organ and share its rich sound with the community.

Following the concert, visitors are invited to stay for a free chili cookoff in the church fellowship hall, offering a chance to enjoy food and conversation with friends and neighbors.

The concert and cookoff are open to the public at no cost, and everyone is welcome to attend. Organizers say the event is meant to celebrate the Easter season through music while bringing the community together for an afternoon of fellowship.
