Sonny’s BBQ Celebrates One Year Anniversary in Olney

The Olney Chamber of Commerce awarded Sonny’s BBQ a special certificate of recognition for being open in Olney for one year.

Sonny’s BBQ, located at 122 W. Main Street Olney, opened a little over a year ago after bringing their business to Olney, taking over the old Gandy’s location. Co-Owners and husband-wife team Cindi and Shane Bivens are not new to the business of making worldclass barbecue, they have been running a food trailer and catering barbecue for years.

Shane Bivens worked at and learned from one of north Texas’s most famous barbecue joints located in Graham with the same name. Movie stars, professional athletes and just good old-fashioned regular customers would travel sometimes from across the country just to eat at Sonny’s in Graham.

Shane said he wanted to continue the tradition of world-class barbecue and a nod towards the original by naming the restaurant Sonny’s BBQ.

Sonny’s has become a much-beloved staple in Olney and quickly made a name for itself for having that authentic barbecue joint vibe and some of the best barbecue in North Texas.
