Results from the McClatchy

The Olney Country Club welcomed area golfers last month for the annual McClatchy Golf Tournament, a two-person scramble that paid out more than $3,000 in prize money in each flight, plus Calcutta winnings.

According to Olney Recreation Association President Landon Rowe, the tournament featured four competitive flights, allowing golfers of varying skill levels to compete for cash prizes.

The Championship Flight ended in a tie for first place, with Mace and Cole McClatchy sharing top honors with Mikel Martinson and Steve Stowe.

In the Presidents Flight, Lonnie Rue and Bubba Atchley tied for first with Josef Carlson and Hunter Coley.

The First Flight championship was won by Mike McElroy and Alan Hinson, while John Clerihew and Chris Clerihew captured the Second Flight title.

The McClatchy Tournament is one of the Olney Country Club’s signature golf events each summer, drawing golfers from Olney and surrounding communities for a weekend of friendly competition and fellowship. Proceeds from the tournament fund a scholarship in Jeff and Theresa McClatchy’s honor.
