OPD Wants Public’s Help Identifying Burglary Suspect

The Olney Police Department is asking residents for help identifying a man suspected of burglarizing a vehicle in the 500 block of West Bloodworth Street during the night of Aug. 9-10.

Olney Police Chief Bryan Barrett said investigators are working to identify the man, whose image was captured by a home security camera in the neighborhood. The accompanying photograph shows the suspect, although his face is blurred.

“We are trying to get it solved right now,” Chief Barrett said, adding that police are already looking at several possible suspects.

Police have confirmed at least one vehicle burglary in the 500 block of West Bloodworth, but officers were checking with residents at several nearby homes to determine whether other vehicles may also have been entered or disturbed during the night.

Chief Barrett said an officer was going doorto- door in the area to make sure residents had not discovered property missing from their vehicles.

T he exact items taken in the confirmed burglary were not immediately known as police worked with the victim to determine what was missing and obtain serial numbers for any stolen property that could be identified.

The suspect also may have been seen looking through or around other vehicles in the neighborhood during the same time period.

Police are asking residents in the area to check their vehicles for missing property and review doorbell, driveway, or other security-camera footage from the night of Aug. 9 and early morning hours of Aug. 10.
