A word from the Olney ISD Athletic Director

This summer, the Olney Athletic program was very busy.

Basketball camp launched the beginning of summer with 52 participants learning all kinds of skills and drills needed to be successful.

Football camp followed, with 43 participants, where campers learned the fundamentals of football, along with being introduced to the Flexbone offense.

The month of June was busy with summer league games. Both the girl and boys basketball teams participated in the City View league. The girls had two teams with 15 players, and the boys had nine players.

The Lady Cub softball team also participated in summer league games in Wichita Falls, Texas, where they had 14 players.

A High School Team Football Camp was also held, where Coach Kenny Wheaton from Harding University, along with coaches from the San Antonio area introduced the basics and fundamentals of the Flexbone offense to 27 participants.

There has also been Cub Pride strength and conditioning workouts each week for the past six week, with an average of 40 athletes per day participating.

This summer has been a success, and has given Olney athletics a good start for the upcoming school year.

Olney ISD is also introducing girls volleyball and boys cross country.

“We are excited about these additions to our athletic program and hope to have a very succssful year for Olney Athletics,” Olney Athletic Director Jody Guy said.

High school cross country starts August 1 and high school football starts August 6.

Please come and support these athletes throughout the year as they represent the community of Olney and Olney ISD.
