TMSCA Results
After competing in the regional competition, Olney Junior High Texas Math and Science Coaches Association teams advanced to state in San Antonio on Saturday, April 1. Both team and individual awards were given to each grade and team, with OJH earning third place overall of 14 1A/2A TMSCA schools.
“Dr. Roach and I are very proud of our students and their progress this year,” said Rhonda Geter, OJH TMSCA coach. “We have some ideas for improvement to make next year even better.”
Number Sense placed fourth as a team with Sophie Roach, Braelyn Casteel, Darla Castillo, and Harris Sullivan. The Calculator Team placed second with Roach, Castillo, Casteel, and AJ Solano. The Mathematics team placed third with Roach, Castillo, Foster Sullivan, and Shaine Grard. The Science Team placed second with Colby Johnson, Sullivan, Ava Stewart, and Jasmine Bryan.
In sixth grade, Kendall Bailey placed 16th in Science. Jett Brock placed 20th in Number Sense, fourth in Mathematics, and ninth in Science. Abram Dinwiddie placed eighth in Science. Pedro Gonzalez placed eighth in Mathematics. Grace Jeske placed fifth in Science. Samuel Lee placed second in Calculator and 10th in Mathematics. Odin Savard placed 16th in Number Sense, sixth in Mathematics, and sixth in Science. Sullivan placed eighth in Number Sense, eighth in Calculator, ninth in Mathematics, and fourth in Science.
In seventh grade, Mackenzie Berngen placed 18th in Number Sense and 15th in Science. Bryan placed seventh in Science. Jacobi Esquivel placed 19th in Calculator and 17th in Mathematics. Grard placed ninth in Mathematics. Victoria Pint placed 13th in Science. Bennet Powers placed 19th in Science. Solano placed fourth in Calculator. In eighth grade, Benjamin Baran placed 19th in Science. Casteel placed ninth in Number Sense and eighth in Science. Castillo placed 14th in Number Sense, sixth in Calculator, and seventh in Mathematics. Aubree Englishbee placed 17th in Mathematics. Johnson placed 15th in Mathematics and third in Science.
