Playoffs! Who’s talking about Playoffs?

In the famous (or infamous) words of former NFL Coach Jim Mora, sometimes the concept of teams making the playoffs can seem far-fetched. However, replying so vehemently to the question of if his team was worthy of making the playoffs, he has enshrined himself as a consistent parody of an overreaction in a news conference—All in good fun regardless.

Well, this week, the old Lawdog has some good news. The UIL Playoff predictions are out via Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, and two of the teams in our listening area at SportsTalk 1230 are picked to be in them for 2A Division II. Not wanting to step on the toes of the requirements of having a digital subscription to DCTF, I feel like I can say that Olney and Seymour are both projected to be in the Region II first-round qualifiers. What happens from there is up to the teams. Nothing is guaranteed, and teams must keep winning, but after last year’s firstround exit for the Cubs and Panthers, another chance at advancing past the first round.

District Six is a tough district, and so far, we have seen Seymour hold home field with the 40-28 victory in week eight. While Sey mour hopes to unseat Archer City and possibly go into the playoffs as district champion, Olney needs to hold, serve and beat Electra and Quanah to secure a third-place finish. Who knows, maybe travel to Archer City, and knock off the preseason favorite on their home field. Fear the Veer Man! Good luck to all the teams in our listening area, and we are hopeful for extended playoff runs for each.
