Olney High School Recognizes Seniors

During the recent district matchup between the OHS Cubs and Lady Cubs with the Seymour Panthers, senior members of the Cubs and Lady Cubs basketball teams were recognized before the games began.

Seniors were escorted to center court by family members as their high school accomplishments were announced to the crowds who tightly packed the stands.

OHS seniors for the night were Lady Cub #5 Krystal Hernandez, Lady Cub #24 Joselyn Marquez and #12 Chris Hernandez.

Both basketball teams have had their ups and downs but have come away with some successes and many fond memories.

The Cubs have fought hard all season but have fallen short during District playoffs but decided as a team that they just could not fail to give teammate #12 Chris Hernandez a District win for the OHS Senior Night.

The Cubs lived up to their plan to give Mr. Hernandez that win, and by the game-ending buzzer, the Cubs beat the Panther 50-49. As the final buzzer, the crowds in the stands exploded to their feet cheering and celebrating the win for the Cubs and the special win just for Mr. Hernandez.

As the players rallied around Mr. Hernandez in celebration, he pressed through the crowd to find Cub Basketball Head Coach Eric Symank and embraced him. Coach Symank is one of the greatest as coaches go and it shows during moments like that.

The Lady Cubs fought hard but did not secure the win against the Lady Panthers. Fight on, Cubs!
