OJH students qualify for state TMSCA meet

Olney Junior High’s Math and Science team competed in their first state qualifying Texas Math and Science Coaches Association (TMSCA) meet on Saturday, Feb. 17, bringing home Sweepstakes honors with the most cumulative points of all schools in attendance. Thirty-seven students traveled to City View Middle School to compete against seventy- five other sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students from six local schools. Both the Math and Science Teams earned second place, the Calculator Applications Team achieved third, and the Number Sense Team brought home fourth place. In addition, 27 of the 37 in attendance scored well enough to earn a trip to the state contest.

“Students must earn a previously determined qualifying score to get their ticket to the State Meet in San Antonio on April 13,” Rhonda Geter, TMSCA coordinator for OJH, said.
