OISD Welcomes New Ag Teacher

Olney has a new agriculture teacher who is excited to be part of the community. Jimmy Maroney comes from Tom Bean ISD and earned his Bachelor of Science from East Texas State University in 1994.

He decided to move to Olney after hearing from his longtime friend, Mrs. Haralson, about what a great school and community it is, and he said a pay raise didn’t hurt either. Since joining Olney ISD, he says he’s been impressed.

“The kids are very respectful and eager to learn in the shop,” he said. “The parents have been easy to work with, and the administration has supported me on everything I’ve asked for. Overall, it’s been a great experience.”

He said he is looking forward to building strong connections and helping students succeed in agriculture.
