OHS Athletic Banquet

This year’s Athletic Banquet was held May 15,   at the HDH pavilion in Olney. There were many awards given out this year to a lot of hard working and well deserving young men and women. Some of the high lights include Cub Pride awards in Track and Field to Parker Mayers, Kami Bednarz, and Kiara Owen with a Block O award going to Jae Montgomery for the most valuable runner. Porter Elliot received a Block O award in golf along with Maddie Barrington receiving a Cub Pride award in for golf as well. Mattie went all the way to state this year, securing a Bronze finish. Next up were awards for Cubs baseball and softball Cesar Flores received a Cub Pride award, Maddy Green received a Block O award for second team catcher and Academic all-district. Powerlifting saw Luis Marquez receiving a Cub Pride award for excellence in the sport of Powerlifting. Basketball honored Parker Mayers with a Cubs Pride award for excellence in the sport of basketball along with Jae Montgomery with a Cub Pride award for excellence in the sport of basketball. In Cheerleading Jae Montgomery received a Cub Pride Award for excellence in cheerleading. Cross-country Cub Pride awards went to Dillon Sandlin and Sarah Stroud for excellence in cross-country. Cub football awarded Block O awards to Oscar Flores, Brian Hernandez, Hector Hernandez, Dillon Sandlin, Gabe Garza, Jr. Acuna for honorable mention All-District to name a few. Cub Pride award was given to Parker Mayers for excellence in football. Charlie Davis awards were awarded to Anahi Marquez, Jae Montgomery, Cesar Flores and Parker Mayers. Olney Athletic Hall of Fame awards were presented to Cesar Flores and Parker Mayers. Although not all students where recognized all the student-athletes deserve a pat on the back and told a job well done. It is not an easy thing to be a successful student while also working long hours toward becoming an athlete to represent the Olney Cubs. Be proud of all these young men and women who represent the Olney Cubs. Fight on Cubs!
