The Newcastle Bobcats have been back in action the past few weeks, playing a non-district game against May on Oct. 2.

The game was one sided from the beginning, with May bringing home the victory 56-0. The next game was played on Oct. 16 against familiar foe Saint Jo. Who could forget the instant classic played between the two teams last season in the district finale, with the Bobcats winning 79-70 in a thriller. This year’s match up ended differently, with Saint Joe coming out on top 56-0.

This was the first district game for Newcastle and there were some bright spots from the Strawbridge brothers, as well as Hunter Martinez. Quarterback Ty Strawbridge continues to improve with this rebuilding squad, moving the ball down the field at times against a veteran Saint Jo team, this young Bobcats team gained some valuable experience as they move for ward in district play this season. The Bobcats played another district game at home against Perrin-Whitt, with the Bobcats winning a low scoring affair by a score of 30-18. The bobcats avenge their heartbreaking loss from last season, as Newcastle gets their first district win of the 2020 season. Newcastle will be back in action when they take on Bryson Oct. 30, followed by potential playoff games in November.
