Newcastle’s Homecoming

Newcastle High School celebrated homecoming this week with a variety of activities and events.  The unique theme “Lettuce Brand the Longhorns,” allowed for students to dress like a variety of themed days including Ranch dressing, Thousand Island Dressing, Cesar Dressing, and House Dressing.  The week included a bonfire, with the traditional run around the fire, as well as cheers, chants, and the cheerleaders doing two dances with a huge crowd attending.  Then, the bonfire was followed by a paint the streets event, and an exciting pep rally on Friday.  The nominees for queen and hero were introduced and asked to join in a fun “salad” themed game for the pep rally.  Boomer Whitaker was interviewed by cheerleader, Bryanna Nickel, and he told the crowd that he was most proud to be a Bobcat because of the awesome fans they have.

The junior class sponsored a barbecie dinner fundraiser on Friday before the game, and then the homecoming game began.

The game ended at halftime due to the 45 rule, but the homecoming festivities continued.  Senior nominees Hannah Manos, Bryanna Nickel, Amy Martinez, and Victoria Richards entered the field with their senior hero nominees: Boomer Whitaker, Lane Brice, JT Spurlin, and JD Brice.  Amy Martinez and Boomer Whitaker were named Homecoming Queen and Hero.
