Lady Cubs Battle the Quanah Lady Indians

On Aug. 14, the Olney Freshman and Junior Varsity Lady Cub volleyball team hosted the Lady Indians this past Friday. The Lady Cubs fought hard and with plenty of spirit, but both teams fell short of victory.

The volleyball program is still new to Olney ISD but head coach of the Lady Cubs, Pulliam, and Coach Mollie Pace, are making great strides in facilitating the new sports program to become a success.

“I feel both teams took strides from Tuesday to today’s game. We busted our butts in practice all week for this game today. We are lining up in the right spots for defensive blocks, serving more aggressively, our benches were loud, finding our positioning quicker than we ever have before and I think it really showed today. Even though we fell short by just a little, I am so proud of both teams for being coachable this week and growing. Today makes me excited for the future of our season,” Coach Pulliam said of both teams.

Coach Pulliam was brought in to head the Olney ISD’s new volleyball program last year and has been working as hard ever since to make the Lady Cubs a competitive volleyball success. Helping Coach Pulliam and stepping up to fill the role as the Freshman Volleyball coach is Mollie Pace, who is most noted for her great work as the Head Coach of the Lady Cub softball team. Coach Pace had this to say when asked about the Freshman Lady Cubs, “The Lady Cubs are putting in the work this year and you can see that when they play! The girls have come so far in their knowledge of the game and we are excited to see what this season brings,”. The Lady Cubs will be playing at home against Holliday on Aug. 28 starting at 5 p.m. Fight on Lady Cubs!
