Junior High Cubs take on Iowa Park Hawks

The seventh and eighth grade Olney Cubs joined together to face the Iowa Park Hawks on Thursday, September 27, at Cub Stadium. The Cubs walked away with a victory.

The Hawks started with the ball in the first quarter and the Cubs defense held them, with stops by Cooper Lane, Abey Marquez, Carter Turner, and Brady Lisle. Cubs gained possession and, with a 14-yard carry on the fourth down, James Coleman took it in for a touchdown. Hawks took over and were kept from scoring with help from Carter Turner, James Coleman and Jose Martinez. On the Cubs next possession, Gatlin Guy took the ball in for a touchdown and James Coleman got the two-point conversion. Hawks got the ball again, but they fumbled it and Tavon Scrogum recovered it and ran it 40-yards for another Cubs touchdown. The score at the end of the first quarter was 20-0.

The second quarter began with the Hawks in control of the ball. The Cubs defense kept the Hawks from scoring with tackles by Abey Marquez, Carter Turner, Noah Enriquez and Jacob Hernandez. After a 30-yard gain by Gatlin Guy, Brady Lisle got the Cubs another touchdown. Halftime began with a score of 26-0.

In the third quarter, the Hawks recovered a Cubs fumble, but, thanks to Dominic Bedford, they were unable to make anything out of it. James Coleman got the ball and took it 37-yards for a Cubs touchdown. The score at the end of the third quarter was 32-0.

During the fourth quarter, the Hawks were still unable to keep the Cubs from dominating, as Gatlin Guy got a touchdown and Tavon Scrogum got another fumble recovery that he took in for a touchdown. The game ended with a Cubs victory, with a score of 44-0.
