Homecoming Game: Cubs vs. Indians

The Olney Cubs played the Quanah Indians during the homecoming game on Friday, Oct. 5, at Cub Stadium. The Cubs fought hard, with their fans cheering them on in the stands, but the Indians claimed the victory, with a final score of 34-7. The Cubs now stand at two wins and four losses for the season.

There were other attractions present at the game on Friday. The Friends of FFA held a silent auction to raise money for the organization. The Olney Band Boosters had a table where they sold shirts, mugs, and decals. Kettle Corn sold popcorn for $5 per bag, with $2 of each bag sold donated to the Olney Athletics Booster Club. The Olney Athletics Boosters also had their trailer open, selling shirts and many other items.

During halftime, the Homecoming Court nominees were introduced: Jae Montgomery, Melanie Allen, Anahi Marquez and Lexi Allsbrook. La’Anna Golden, last year’s Homecoming Queen, returned to present the crown to this year’s homecoming queen, Melanie Allen.

Following the game, high school students had their homecoming dance under the stars, by the concession stand.

The Cubs will face the Seymour Panthers on Friday, Oct. 12, in Seymour, Texas.
