Harveys Host 21st Fundraiser at Cubs Game
Although the OHS Cubs baseball team did not capture a win against rival Archer City Wildcats, a win was still had in the 21st annual Steven Harvey Scholarship Fundraiser, which took place at the game.
The fundraiser meal included a BBQ sandwich, chips, cookies and drink for a suggested donation of $10.
The Steven Harvey Memorial Baseball Scholarship was started in 2004 by Jeff and Tami Harvey and Steven’s family. Steven was killed in a car accident on May 7, 2004, in Muleshoe, Texas. Steven was a lifelong resident of Olney and graduated from Olney High School in 2002. He attended college and received his certificate of completion to be a lineman at South Plains College in Levelland in May of 2004, just before the accident.
The Harveys choose the Cub baseball game to host the event each year because of Steven’s great love for baseball.
