Fourth Annual McClatchy builds on success

The Olney Country Club and Olney Recreation Association hosted the Fourth Annual McClatchy Tournament last weekend with Dusty McElroy and Garrett Pace taking home honors for overall champions, with scores of 61 and 62.

The golf tournament began as a way to honor Jeff McClatchy, longtime member and the driving force for the success behind the Olney Country Club. This year’s tourney held special meaning for the late Mr. McClatchey’s sons, Cole and Mace McClatchy because their mother, Theresa McClatchy, passed away the same week.

Cole and Mace debated playing this year because of their recent loss but said they had been surrounded by sorrow and needed a break with something uplifting. The tourney’s key sponsor this year was Air Tractor. Many other businesses and families helped sponsor the tourney, including the following Gold Family/ Business sponsors: Dickey, McGann & Rowe and the Myers Family; Silver Family/Business sponsors: Tower Extrusions, Jeremy and Trina Johnson, Brazos Communications, The McClatchy Family, Cemco and the Campbell Ranch.
