Eight Lady Cubs receive postseason honors

Eight Olney High School basketball players received postseason honors with seniors Geri Heath and Kodee Scott each earning a spot on the Region II District II All-District Second Team.

Geri Heath, second team

Heath finished her senior year just two points shy of the team lead in scoring with 166 points, snatched a team-leading 155 rebounds and was also third in steals with 49.

Kodee Scott, second team

Fellow senior Kodee Scott was also named to the all-district second team after following her season, where she finished fourth in scoring with 120 points, second in rebounds with 150 and first in steals (59) and blocks (9) and assists (27). Scott was also named to the district all-academic team.

La’Anna Golden, honorable mention

With a team-leading 168 points, Golden seemed a shoe-in for the all-district team, but will have to settle with an honorable mention. The junior forward also tallied 52 steals, good for second behind Scott, and third in free throws with 39. Golden was also named to the district all-academic team.

Jae Montgomery, honorable mention

Montgomery was an unexpected surprise for the Lady Cubs and slowly worked her way into the starting rotation thanks to her solid perimeter shooting. Montgomery was third in scoring with 153 points, which included a team-leading 24 3-pointers. Montgomery also contributed from the free-throw line with a team-leading 47 and second in blocked shots with 6. Montgomery was also named to the district all-academic team.
