
Cubs score first win against Chico Dragons
In the fifth week of the football season, the Olney Cub’s got their first win of the season in Olney against the Chico Dragons. After a 0-3 record from the Cubs, the coaches and the players won with a score of 2821.
”It was a great experience for the players, coaches and community,” Athletic Director Chris Tobola said. “ The Team has worked extremely hard to adapt to the changes that a new coaching staff brings in. We still have a ton of work but you always have to celebrate the wins. . We did better at taking care of the ball and that help in the outcome as well.”
It was a very close game, with a halftime score of 14-14. Olney’s offense had 284 total yards. It was led by Camron McComack, who completed 7 out of 10 passes with a total 84 yards. McComack also had 18 carries for 147 yards and Rylan Carter had 10 carries for 54 yards. Jamarcus Collins, a receiver for the Cubs, had 74 receiving yards in four catches. Other receivers were Tucker Cortinez, who had one catch for 3 yards and AJ Solano, who had two catches for 5 yards. ‘ McComack also led the defense with 14 total tackles , with one for a loss. Carter had one solo and 11 assists and Solano recorded a sack for a loss of yards.
All the Coaches are very proud of their team, but they also say that the team can not rest because they won that game. Now they have to focus and win against Crosbyton.
