Cubs Powerlifters Compete at Regionals

The newly revamped OHS Cubs Powerlifting programs have seen a quick rise to success with Coach Casey Keeter at the helm.

The Cubs powerlifters followed the lead of their Lady Cubs counterparts and did well enough to compete in the regionals for 2025. Though no one made a state qualifying lift there were plenty of personal records made by the Cubs competing in the regionals.

Numbers for the Cubs at regionals: Lucas Rodgers 4th place 220 lb class 1375 lbs. total-Season improvement of 145 lbs., Wacey Canada 5th place 181 lb. class 1190 lbs. total-Season improvement of 140 lbs., Jose Melchor 6th place 181 lb. class 1160 lbs. total competed with a strained hamstring-Season improvement of 45 lbs., Ricco Sandoval 7th place 181 class 1155 lbs. total-Season improvement of 120 lbs., Maddox Johnson 6th place 123 class 835 lbs. total-Season improvement of 105 lbs., David McCarson 9th place 132 lb. class 750 lbs. total-Season improvement of 30 lbs. and Shaine Grard 10th place 132 class 710 lbs. total-Season improvement of 25 lbs.!
