Cubs Going to Playoffs!
Nov. 6, the Olney Cubs hosted the Munday Moguls to decide who would claim the final spot in the 2A D2 division playoffs. Walking to Cub stadium, you could hear the Cubs shouting before you even came close to the stadium. The Cubs were getting hyped for this important game. The Stadium was packed, and it looked as if all of Olney turned out to support the Cubs.
The Cubs turned the heat up from the minute the first whistle blew till the final horn sounded to end the battle. Cubs claimed the win over Munday with a score of 38-0 over the Moguls. This is the first time since 2006 that the Cubs have made it to the playoffs.
Along with the dedication of the Cub players, another important determination for the Cubs winning season had to do with the coaches instilling a winning attitude to the Cubs along with a great work ethic on the field.
Olney ISD Athletic Director and Head Coach of the Olney Cubs in a post-game interview said, “we are proud of our kids, proud of our coaches and proud of our community.” Coach Guy says, “winning this (playoff spot) was one of our goals and now we just need to keep on trucking. They put in a lot of work and been through a lot of hard times and for them to have the opportunity to play in the playoffs, we are excited and proud for them! I look forward to how this program is going to get better and better every year.”
