Cub Football Camp
Jason Powers, Head Coach of the Cub Football program, held a football camp for incoming Olney Junior High [OJH] football players. The nearly week-long camp will get the players conditioned with strength training, drills, and routines that also will acclimate new players to the weather and Cubs’ play style. Coach Powers and other assisting coaches kept a close eye on the players to see who stood out in each position; this will help the coaches decide which players will be best for each position. Dust off your Cub gear and come out and support these hard-working Cubs this season. Go Cubs!
OJH Cub football players showed plenty of controlled aggression at the tackle drills during the Cub football camp. Controlled aggression is a big part of what helps a football player stay competitive in a game.
Cub players run through lineman drills at a station at the OJH football camp. Coach Keeter put the players through their paces and gave instruction and correction on proper techniques to help them succeed on the O-Line and D-Line.
OJH Cub players attending the summer football camp seemed to really enjoy the receivers’ station as they competed with each other catching and blocking passes.
OJH Cub football players had plenty of heart at the defensive line station. They received instruction on the proper way to tackle ball carriers and sack quarterbacks. The O-Line and D-Line hold a special camaraderie - players sometimes refer to themselves as the “pancake platoon,” which lays opponents flat.
