Cast, crew preparing ‘The Book of Dog’ for competition

The Olney High School is putting on a one-act-play directed by Lori Cox, Kayla Glover, Lauren Sullivan, and Obelea Rue. The play is called “The Book of Dog,” written by Jiggs Burgess.

According to Cox, the play is about a dog who finds his home and his name (Marvin) after getting separated from his mom and siblings. He lives with his new family and grows up with Olivia through the years. The story is about how Olivia’s dad, who was very against having a dog, learns to love Marvin.

“The play is funny and heart wrenching at the same time,” Cox said. “We are having a great time learning it so far.”

The students in this play are Mallory Jeske, Brooke Orsak, Allie Barrington, Ellie Hinson, Morgan Simmons, Sawyer Edgington, Jolie Widner, August Stephens, Claire Stephens, Colby Johnson, Ava Stewart, Sophie Roach, Foster Sullivan, Nate Elmore, Adrian Gonzalez, Logan Phillips and Aliyah Handley.

The performance will be entered into competition Wednesday, March 20. It’s also expected that there will be a public performance in Olney, although no date has been set.
