Bobcats battle Wildcats for Area championship
The Newcastle Bobcats Varsity Football season came to an end during the Area Championship game against the Westbrook Wildcats, with the Bobcats posting a 98-52 loss.
The score did not reflect the fight, grit and heart the Bobcats played with during the Championship game. The Bobcats had a rough first quarter with a few missteps, otherwise the game would have been very close all the way until the fourth quarter.
Momentum in football can play a huge role in deciding the outcome of a game and although the Bobcats had a solid performance, mistakes in the first quarter – including a kickoff reception being turned over and interceptions – that seemed to plague the Bobcats the entire game.
The Bobcats had a very good season and should have nothing to be down about – with a 7-5 regular season and 3-1 for district, the Bobcats had what it took to go past state after a very strong Bi-District Championship win.
Until next season!
Fight on, Bobcats!
